Been working in M&A for a while now and over the past year I’ve noticed a clear shift that more clients are pushing back on Datasite, mostly around pricing and the feeling that they’re paying for features they never actually use on smaller deals. It’s frustrating when the final invoice looks nothing like the initial estimate. Usually it comes up mid-process when someone on the buy-side team starts asking why we’re not using something lighter. I recently moved to San Francisco and this is my first Thanksgiving in America.
I don’t have any turkey dinners to go to… so I figured, why not do something a little wild?
All the data room companies out there (Intralinks, DocSend, iDeals, etc.) are insanely expensive, and you basically have to beg just to see a demo. That’s been the status quo for as long as this industry existed.
So yesterday I thought: screw it. What if I just made my data room completely free this week?
