Hi everyone, I'm currently building an Android app (Putting the last touches now) and I've been doing some research to understand the revenue and time to success of similar projects, mainly SaaS and apps I've compiled a list of 131 companies with their MRR, ARR, and the time it took them to become profitable. I thought this might be helpful to others here who are also looking to define their niche or assess their progress Here's the data I've collected so far, hope this will be helpful to some...

The 5 Best Virtual Data Rooms (VDR) I've Tested for 2026

by Sad-Recognition-8257 · Feb 13, 2026

I've been testing virtual data rooms for several years now, and 2026 has brought some interesting developments to the space. This is my updated compilation of VDRs I've tried and genuinely liked. No particular order here, and honestly, none of these tools are bad. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, and every company offers a different approach to the VDR solution. # Papermark **Pros:** * Open source with selfhosting option * Unlimited data rooms * Custom domain, white labeling, and ex...

Papermark for fundraising in Europe?

by jumpDefendRoyal7530 · Jan 22, 2026

I'm wondering if other founders here have successfully raised funds in Europe and used Papermark as their virtual data room? I know they're positioned as the data room vendor for Europe with european hosting and all that jazz but I'm wondering about any experiences using it, if it was easy to set up, does the tracking work well, are there any features missing from other VDRs? Would you recommend it?

What documents should you include in your Data Room?

by Sad-Recognition-8257 · Nov 10, 2025

This is a question I've been asked a lot by other founders who are just starting to look for investment. So here's a quick post on the key documents that should be a part of any data room. For those who don't know what a Data Room or Virtual Data Room is, it's a secure online repository used for storing, sharing, and exchanging critical business documents during fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and other sensitive transactions. Some tips on how to fundraise effectively?

We've been running a startup for a bit over a year and finally we're looking for some pre-seed investment, we're profitable and we're not really DYING for the investment but we need it to scale up and be more profitable. In terms of due dilligence we've got all of our financials and pitch deck ready, we also got told to ude a data room instead of Google Drive which is what we were using so we are using papermark as well as hired some contractors to help us make all the financials as real as pos...

We found our first angel investor! Here's how we did it

by Academic_Way_293 · Nov 3, 2025

After months of pitching and learning along the way we finally got our first angel investor to finally scale and get out there some more. It was pretty though and as a first time founder I didn't really expect it to be this hard, we got $300k total, we're in the B2B business and developing a tech tool. I'm definetly ready for some vacations after this for sure. Our angel investor actually ended up finding us through a tweet I made on X, but that doesn't meaan warm intros aren't good, in fact th...

We got 700k in funding. Is it unfair to take a vacation?

by Free_Explorer6853 · Oct 14, 2025

Well... post title. We were looking for investing for a little while and it's been a lot of hard work but I can't take out everyone on the team on vacations and I'm kind of scared some people may take it the wrong way, just need a little break and celebrate. We started looking for investors around 8 months ago, what we did was basically we used clay to get leads, hired an agency to make a pitch deck for us and we put all that along with our market research and financials on a data room where ...

These are the tools I'm using to help founders and entrepreneurs raise capital, so far I've worked with 4 and we've gotten successful seed and pre-seed rounds done. This isn't meant to promote anything in specific, there's a lot of different options for each step of the way like docsend instead of papermark, apollo.io instead of skyp.ai, huginn instead of n8n but you get the idea. This is what I've found works best for me after trying different alternatives so I'd say give other options a try an...

Do you guys use VDRs?

by Sad-Recognition-8257 · Sep 16, 2025

We've been using a VDR (Papermark) to help with document sharing, mostly just legal, contracts, esignatures from our customers. We made the switch to a VDR from Google Drive maybe 6 months ago and it's been pretty efficient at doing what it does, our customers like in general and some extra features like document view tracking and so on are handy on some enterprise sales. What document sharing/data room tools do you use to share documents with clients?

by PuzzleheadedMetal746 · Sep 8, 2025

I'm kind of done with Google Drive for this, even though I am a big fan of Google Drive and the whole Google suite. I want something that will let me share documents to clients and track how much time they spend on the document, how many times they open it up, when did they open it up, etc. Right now I'm looking at Papermark or Docsend, a bit leaning towards Papermark since they're almost half the price pretty much at $80 vs $150 for what I need, and they're open source which I like. Why I built an open source DocSend alternative?

by mfts0 · Jul 9, 2025

When I started Papermark, the main question I get was why open source? "How will you monetize?" "Won't competitors just copy you?" "Why give away your code for free in this market?" 18 months later, serving 30k+ companies, I've learned: Open source isn't about code. It's about trust. Typically people who not very familiar with open source think: Open source = free code, easy to copy, and set up But in reality: Open source = community & trust at scale. Thats what i also try t...

Re: CloakShare – Open-source DocSend alternative with video streaming (MIT)

by GrimLabs · Mar 7, 2026

Built this because I was paying $45/user/month for DocSend to share pitch decks. That's it. Serve pages as images, count the views, charge a fortune. Papermark is the obvious open-source answer but it's AGPL -- if you want to embed a secure doc viewer in a commercial product, that's a dealbreaker. And there's no npm package for this anywhere. If you want secure document viewing in your app today, you're writing it from scratch. CloakShare is MIT, API-first, and ships an embeddable Web ...

by skwashd · Dec 9, 2023

During a quick scan of the catalog I found a few issues. Sentry isn't open source, even after their most recent license change. The Business Source License and variants are source available, not open source. FireCMS is built on top of Firebase, rather than being an alternative to it. It's a similar story with the Jira CLI. They're open source, but they're useless without the backend to talk to. Plausible Analytics and Papermark are both listed twice. Rustdesk is also listed twice, once as Rustde...

Document infrastructure as never been so open and accessible! 2. Fully customizable: you can use custom domains to share a pitch deck or documents and custom branding. 3. There are many millions of documents being created and shared on any given day. However, the moment you share a document you have no idea if the recipient, whether a client, investor or colleague has actually viewed the document or engaged with the document in any way. You are completely left in the dark. Papermark is providing you actionable insights for your files. Just like you have Mixpanel or Datadog for your application, there is Papermark for your files.
